I received my Bachelors of Business Administration from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University with a concentration in Marketing. However, having had a computer since 1983, I have always been a technology junkie. Out of college I happened upon an IT position at Kaplan Educational Centers, completely ignoring my formal education. Fortunately, in 1996, my nerd passions combined with my business acumen gave way for my next career at Internet startup Digital Demographics. There, I gained significant work experience in website production. My online experience is quite broad as it ranges from various areas of IT, online media production, online marketing, business development and raising venture capital.
While working for Digital Demographics I gained invaluable experience in all aspects of online/new media including, but not limited to, web production, project management, product development, affiliate programs and email marketing. I was able understand the aspects of content publishing, ad sales, while gaining an intimate knowledge of the opt-in email space. At Digital Demographics I oversaw publishing, content development, bulk email technology, in addition to managing the sales team, identifying new business, fulfilling insertion orders, and closing leads.
At Digital Demographics we developed several websites based on viral marketing concepts via email. Recommend-It.com, for example, was the first email tell-a-friend tool on the internet. We were able to grow the popularity of our own web properties while at the same time leveraging that traffic to help our clients in their own marketing endeavors. At Digital Demographics I also developed custom online affinity/retention programs for firms such as WorldCom, hifi.com, moreover.com and eDiets.
I understand how content management works, and am familiar with several CMS platforms. I also understand how this plays a key role in publishing to multiple platforms (web, pda, rss, etc.) Now as RSS/XML technology finally reaches the average end user (via rss readers, blogging software, newsfeeds, podcasts, etc), the importance and dependence on dynamic and database driven content becomes significantly greater. Furthermore, I am cognizant how the new media model is affecting journalism, mainstream media, and related industries such as PR and advertising.
Lately, I have been working as a freelance online marketing and IT consultant setting up CMS and blogs. You can read more about my clients here.
I am currently seeking employment in the fields of IT, Marketing/PR, and Web Production. My resumes are available for download.
